The government of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be supporting the reconstruction of Suntakhan Secondary School in Sankhu.
The school was damaged by the earthquake of April 25, 2015.
Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina for India and Nepal Dr. Sabit Subasic and Buddhi Bahadur Shrestha, president, Suntakhan Secondary School Management Committee, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 4 regarding the support.
As per the MoU, the embassy is going to construct an earthquake-resistant school building on the land to be provided by the school and hand it over to the school management committee within six months.
More than 150 students, especially from underprivileged families are currently enrolled in the school. According to Ambassador Subasic, rebuilding the school is just the beginning of a long-term relationship and support between Nepal and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He stated that the facility would benefit students and the community by enabling the school to provide better education. The MOU was facilitated by Shahil Agrawal, local representative appointed by the Embassy for the project.
